This year has been strung together like a myriad of sparkling jewels on a favorite and cherished vintage necklace. Beads of memories have been gathered along the byways and the highways across the nation to be forever cherished. Treasured keepsakes have been found and taken from places like New Orleans, LA, Orange Beach, AL, Osage Beach, MO, Los Angeles, CA, Key West, FL, Port St. Joe, FL, Mexico Beach, FL, Panama City, FL, Vidalia, GA, Guntersville, Al, Huntsville, AL, Hartsville, TN, Hendersonville, TN, Agora Hills, CA, Sedalia, MO, Kenner, LA, Indianapolis, IN and Atlanta, GA. This year on the road should be wrapped up in Las Vegas, adding yet another strand of shows at the amazing National Finals Rodeo with performances on behalf of the Cowboy Christian Connection.
In addition to the memories being gathered along the road, Nashville and the surrounding mid-state area has revealed even more special treasures…a benefit with Lorrie Morgan for the Sumner County Spay & Neuter Alliance, several benefits on behalf of those affected by the “the great flood of 2010”, a benefit for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a benefit for Breast Cancer Awareness and the hosting of the 4th Annual Cystic Fibrosis Pickin’ Party Benefit, Megan’s “signature benefit”, held at her Cottontown, TN farm and featuring talented Nashville songwriters; Danny Wells, Danny Myrick, Bridgette Tatum, Chas Sanford, Thom Shepherd and several more.
As a singer/songwriter, it is essential to not only “collect” memories to “ooh” and “ah” over but also to record the details so that these experiences can be shared with people who identify with them and want to hear about them….as a result, Megan has continued penning an impressive list of songs representing feelings about where the road has led and where she feels the road is leading. The early part of autumn was spent in the studio recording a Sophomore CD that resulted in a glimpse at some of those “memories” that she was able to poetically capture in lyric and melody.
This year has been an incredible year of growth, revelation and direction as an artist, as a performer and as a songwriter. There is room for everyone who wants to come along…Megan would gladly pack you in her bag and take you with her but Southwest Airlines has a 50 pound per bag limit! Check back frequently… you’ll never even have to leave your cozy armchair. She’s sure to make you feel like you were there for every milestone memory along the way!
